CHALK ART COMPETION AND ACTIVITIES 

Riverfest is pleased to announce the addition of a brand new event for 2010 - “Art on the River” - to be held on April 18, 2010 at the River Market Pavilions in Downtown Little Rock. This event will feature sidewalk chalk art competitions by Central Arkansas middle and high school students;  chalk art drawings from past and current official Riverfest festival artists and a drawing competion among local media personalities and other high profile Little Rock residents.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning students and their schools.  Art on the River will be free to the public.  If you would like to register a team from an area middle school or high school to participate in the competition please download the information sheet and application here.
 

WINE TASTING EVENT CONDUCTED BY BRUCE COCHRAN

Following the chalk art competition there will be a ticketed wine tasting event conducted by Bruce Cochran from 5-7 p.m. located in the west pavilion of the River Market.  Bruce has selected an outstanding array of boutique wines from 18 wineries.  The selection includes 10 whites and 20 reds that hail from many different wine producing regions - from Oregon to Napa Valley to Italy to the Pacific Rim.  Wine enthusiasts will be thrilled with the diversity and uniqueness of the selections offered.  Local restaraunts and caterers will be preparing foods to complement each offering.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets to the wine tasting please email the Riverfest office at info@riverfestarkansas.com or call 501-255-3378 .  Tickets to the wine tasting event are $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door.  You must be 21 years old or older to purchase tickets to this event.
 


ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION  “The mission of Riverfest, Inc. is to produce a quality, recreational, cultural, educational, family-oriented celebration of the visual and performing arts for the benefit of the community.” Riverfest has a 33 year history of making Little Rock a better place to live, work and visit. The objective of Art on the River is to continue this rich tradition.  Art on the River, a Riverfest, Inc. event, will rely heavily on individual and corporate sponsorships to produce a quality celebration of the arts while keeping the event free to the public.  In keeping with the Riverfest mission, Art on the River will award a scholarship through The THEA Foundation. The mission of the THEA Foundation is to advocate the importance of art in the development of our youth through educational and promotional activities and to encourage individual participation in art through scholarship, partnership, and other programs.
